Youthful aging means a lot of things. It could mean aging with a youthful mentality – always being open to new experiences, and being ready and willing to learn and grow. You might think of it as staying “hip”, so to speak – keeping up with culture, news, and new media. Here, we’re not going to talk about any of those things. We’re going to talk about ways of keeping your skin looking youthful as you grow older:
Avoid Sun Damage
Sun damage is one of the most important factors in aging skin. Everything from wrinkles to loose skin can be associated with sun damage. That’s not even considering the very serious risk of diseases like skin cancer. Ask any dermatologist the number one thing you can do to avoid skin damage and aging, and they’ll almost certainly tell you to stay out of the sun.
Of course, you’ve got to leave your house sometimes, so how do you avoid sun damage? You can start by wearing long clothing to cover your arms and legs. You might also wear a wide-brimmed hat or carry a parasol to stop the sun’s rays from getting on your face. Whether you pursue these options or not (they are fashion choices, so it’s okay if you don’t), you should always wear SPF protection. You can find moisturizers that come with SPF protection, and they are highly recommended.
Hydrate
Hydration is so important. It’s not just important for your skin (which is mostly water) – it’s important for your general health. Seriously, get up and grab a glass of water right now if you haven’t in a while. We’ll wait.
Now that you feel refreshed, you should know that moisturizing your skin is also important. Keep a bottle of water near you at all times (you can buy an eight-cup bottle to make sure you drink enough each day), and make moisturizing a part of your daily routine.
Use High-Quality Skincare Products
Note that high-quality doesn’t necessarily mean expensive. Skincare is all about ingredients. To get into an exhaustive list of skincare ingredients here would be unwieldy (we might do an article on it soon). For now, know to avoid things like aluminum and propylene glycol, and opt for an ingredient like hyaluronic acid.
Those are the three most important tips when it comes to youthful aging. While these tips are really basic, they are fundamental – no three things will affect how your skin ages more. You should also know that skin aging isn’t totally irreversible. You can get a stem cell facelift in California to help rejuvenate your skin, then follow the basics above to keep your skin looking youthful.
