Stem Cell Lift® vs. PRP;
Stem Cell Face Lifts & Stem Cell Therapy for Knees and Joints vs. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Injections
By: Dr. Nathan Newman
Stem cell therapy is revolutionizing medical therapies to improve our health, such as the Stem Cell Lift® procedure for the knees and other joints and our looks with the stem cell face lift procedure. Reports of platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections for skin and joint rejuvenation have been confused with stem cell treatments. Below I will outline the differences of these two treatment modalities.
What is the Stem Cell Lift®
Stem cells are cells found in every part of the body. These cells function as regenerative and repair cells in our bodies, replacing damaged cells and repairing injured tissues. In the Stem Cell Lift® procedure, autologous adult mesenchymal stem cells found in high concentrations in the fat are used to rejuvenate, to repair and to regenerate tissues. These multipotent stem cells have a unique ability to become fat, cartilage, muscle, bone, nerve sheath coverings, and beta-pancreatic islets cells which are vital for treating diabetes. Other types of stem cells found in the blood, bone marrow, umbilical cord and embryonic stem cells are being investigated in finding treatments for a variety of diseases, but are either not as efficient, effective, safe, affordable, or ethically acceptable as the fat derived stem cells used in the Stem Cell Lift® procedure today. .
What is PRP
PRP is an acronym for Platelet Rich Plasma. Plasma is essentially blood without the red blood cells. Platelets are cells found in the blood that are essential for clot formation and wound healing. PRP, the mix of concentrated platelets and serum, contains factors that promote repair of tissues. PRP is injected into the targeted area for repair.
PRP vs. Stem Cell Lift®
PRP and Stem Cell Lift® are similar in that they use your body’s own natural reparative factors to harness the healing resources of the body to repair injured tissues. Both treatments work by delivering a large concentrated dose of cells that secrete signals which boost the natural healing process in the body. However, they differ significantly in that the PRP treatments must be repeated many times to help recruit stem cells found in the treated area, but the Stem Cell Lift® procedure delivers a concentrated amount of the stem cells into the desired treatment area. These cells then not only secrete growth factors and other intercellular signals to command and coordinate the repair process, they also can replace and regenerate tissues by themselves directly. Therefore, while PRP may help repair mild damage to joints and tissues, the Stem Cell Lift® through its regenerative capabilities, may alleviate pain and discomfort and restore function from more advanced disease or injury faster, in fewer treatments, with less healing time and at lower cost.
PRP vs. Stem Cell Face Lift
Although PRP has been used as part of a face lift with the knife and in conjunction with fat graft injections to help hasten the healing process and improve graft take, PRP alone does not significantly lift or increase the volume of tissues. The Stem Cell Lift® is unique in that it can double the number of stem cells available for the treatment. For the Stem Cell Lift® procedure a mini liposuction is used to remove fat from the body; the stem cells are then separated from a portion of the removed fat and concentrated. For the scar free stem cell face lift, these activated stem cells are added to the remaining fat and injected with a blunt instrument to sculpt the face to its former youthful and natural appearance. The Stem Cell Lift® utilizes the stem cell enhanced fat to restore the desirable proportions of a rejuvenated, rested and healthy face.

Conclusion:
New cosmetic procedures, such as a stem cell face lift, or therapeutic treatments, to knees, joints and other body parts, new therapies will likely help avoid the pain, recuperation, risk and expense of surgery. Although PRP has shown to boost wound healing and tissue repair, the Stem Cell Lift® procedure is much more advanced and robust in its ability to utilize your own stem cells to repair, regenerate and rejuvenate the body.
